MANILA (ANI / Kyodo) – The Japanese hotel Okura Co. will open a luxury hotel in Manila on December 28, its first branded hotel in the Philippines, after a delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The 11-story, 190-room Okura Manila hotel will be located within the resorts of the Resorts World Manila casino complex adjacent to the third terminal at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Okura hotel said.
The Tokyo-based hotel chain said it began accepting reservations on Wednesday.
The new hotel will feature a lobby inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics and include rooms with cypress wood tubs crafted by Japanese artisans to reflect Hotel Okura’s commitment to Japanese essence.
Also inside the Manila hotel is the upscale Japanese restaurant Yamazato, famous for its flat-style “kaiseki” cuisine.
The Okura Manila hotel will target domestic customers for the time being. An Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co. official expressed the hope that hotel guests will subsequently be motivated to visit Japan.
